Iran not seeking permission to promote defense capability: senior advisor

TEHRAN – The Islamic Republic does not need any country’s “permission” to strengthen its defense capability in the face of military threats, a top advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said on Sunday.

Speaking at the “Dawn of Truth” conference in Tehran, Ali Akbar Velayati said Iran would not allow others to interfere in its internal affairs, denouncing Western countries’ meddling in the country’s internal affairs.

“People” are the only decision-makers in Iran, he added. “If the Iranian people wanted others to decide for their country, they wouldn’t have staged a revolution in the first place.”
